Doilies and Pallet Wall Decor

Hey y'all so I guess my newest obsession is doilies, ha! Well really Ive always been into them and knew eventually I would want to do some kinda wall decor with them.  On Pinterest you can find some really neat ideas such as doilies on canvas or framed doilies, but I strive to be a little different an opted to use a pallet for this project.

Awhile back I asked the hubbs to go out and find me some pallets and what do you know he came back with a handful and they were free!

I requested the hubbs help on this one, initially I wanted to hammer out the wood pieces but that seemed a little more difficult than expected.

I sanded the boards down a bit and used wood glue to attach the pieces together, no nailing or screwing  needed for this project!

I painted the boards a teal, which I love!

I used jute and a staple gun for the back

I used the glue gun to glue down the doilies although I think mod podge would have been a great option but I didn't have enough for the project.  I was also working on a couple of frames that I purchased  at the Salvation Army. I purchased the frame for under $2 and shabby-fied it with some acrylic paint and sand paper.

and this one I painted and added some scrabble letters

Keep in mind this wall/mantel is a work progress but this how the doilies and frames turned out

As always thanks for stopping by and don't forget to keep checking back! Comments are always welcomed love to here what you got going one.

Summer Favorite Things Party

This pass weekend I attended a summer favorite things party, these parties are always so much fun and the best part is you get to go home with a goodie bag!  The way a favorite things party works, each guest brings 5 of their favorite thing which can be bought or made that is $6 or less. The girls try to have one each season so this party was summer themed.

My favorite thing this summer has been homemade margaritas! I purchased these cocktail mixers at World Market where I had gotten mine from just 2 wks ago for my Fun Free Bday!

Let me show you around....

All the decorations you see were made/purchased by one of our lovely host Jessica, she has an amazing blog named Party Love. Ive had the pleasure of attending several of her parties and they're always breathtaking.  Her creativity is endless!

DIY Burlap, Doilies, and Pom Pom Kitchen Curtain

Hello! I wanted to share a quick DIY burlap kitchen curtains, well the reality is there was nothing quick about it. When you have kiddos it makes any project double in time, from I want my pillow, blankie, milk, snack, can you teach me to sew? The request were endless! Anywho my kitchen window has been bare for far too long,  and I finally decided it was time to make a curtain!  So I decided on burlap, I LOVE burlap! I have been toying with the idea of making burlap curtains since I use burlap on everything else, ha!

I came across this gorgeous teal burlap and thought Id give it a go. I also purchased white pom pom trim to go along the bottom of the curtain.

First thing I did was fold my burlap in half, I  purchased a yard and a half and planned on making 2 panels. The easiest way to cut burlap is to pull a strand all the way through, it will make your cut straight.

I then folded the edges and ironed them down, this made it easier for me to sew.

I then sewed the pom pom along the bottom of the panels

As for the doilies they were an after thought, I had to make a second trip to Joanns for more pom pom trim and ended up purchasing the 2 small white doilies thinking I would use them for a banner.  Once home I realized they would look so darling against the teal burlap. I already had the other 2 doilies!

I opted to glue the doilies on instead of sewing them.  The reality is sewing them would have been such a pain and you can never go wrong with hot glue.

Im so happy with the way they turned out, they matched so well with the flower market sign I already had hanging and those sweet blue mason jars.

What do you think? Please free to comment and as always thanks for checking in.

Fun Free Bday!

The "BIG" 29! Is turning 29 a big deal? It kinda is, at least to me. Its my last year in the 20's!  Ever since I can remember Ive dreaded getting older, I mean I enjoy my bday because I love receiving gifts, ha! but getting older is no fun. Id say after 25 things have just gone down hill, ok they really haven't things are better just the number keeps getting bigger, blah!  I dont know what it is I hate about getting older, I just do! Ok, but the reality is Im 29, I have an amazing husband who allows me to stay home, 2 beautiful girls, and a wonderful home that is more than I ever expected.  Instead of throwing myself a pitty party, I should just embrace my age and be thankful for what I have. Anywho enough of me venting on turning 29, I wanted to share how I managed to practically have a fun free bday! As a thrifty gal and someone who's always looking for a great deal, I realized that Im signed up for way too many reward programs.  You know the ones you get asked to join at stores and restaurants and are usually free. Well this past weekend I was on a mission to collect as many of my rewards.  Im signed up to a few rewards programs, but I only collected on four....

First stop, Sonic! Free medium tater tots!
The girls shared and enjoyed the tots.

After the tots we had some fun family time and then we were off again, next stop was Sephora! There I received Benefit mini They're Real Mascara  and Benefit mini Watts Up Luminizer/Highlighter
Ive already used both products and they were wonderful but the benefit watts up highlighter is pretty incredible so much that I will probably purchase it once I ran out of it.

Next was WorldMarket, I had received a $10 off coupon with no minimum purchase.  There I got the cocktail shaker for $9.99, I was off by a penny so I also got this vintage soda pop for $1.49.

Lastly, I collected at Red Robin and it was actually on the following day.  My friend Ashlee and I went  and had some fun girl time and there I got a free burger and ice cream!

Yay, free ice cream! oh and happy hour margaritas for $3.50 Aaamazing!

My friend Ashley and I having a good old time!

Anywho getting all this great stuff for FREE was so fun! Free food, free gifts, YAY! for me. So wouldnt you like to have as much fun too? So go out there and sign up!

Thanks for checking out my Fun Free Bday, please feel free to comment! I would to hear about your restaurant and store freebies.
